Tsurigane Do, Kuji Coast

This strangely shaped rock formation is representative for the sea of Kuji.This name was attached in old days because a bell-shaped rock hung from the ceiling of this big cave.
From July to September, you can watch a demonstration of the fishing women divers at the shore of the Women Diving Center at Kuji coast.

Kuji Amber Museum

This is the unique National Museum of Amber, a stone which is famous for its mystic power.
The amber found in Kuji is about 85 million years old, i.e. dated back to the late Middle Cretaceous period and thus the oldest amber in the world used for jewelry.
There is an accessories shop belonging to the museum. In addition you may try making your own, original accessories and it is also possible to get digging experience while looking for amber at a digging site nearby the museum.

Yamase DofuKan

The Yamase-Dofukan is a “road side center” (michi no eki) located in the center of Kuji-City and is divided into two buildings: the “House of Earth” (Tsuchi no Yakata) where you can buy local products (Bussankan) and the “House of Wind” (Kaze no Yakata) which is a tourist exchange center.In the “House of Earth” amber products and locally harvested seasonal egetables are sold, thus the Bussankan is the best place for buying regional souvenirs.Another popular spot is the “Nostalgic Hall” (Retro kan), which reproduces the atmosphere of the 1950s (Showa generation).

Moguranpia Machinaka Aquarium

On August 5, 2011 the "Machinaka aquarium" opened in front of the Kuji station.Here you can see fishes that survived the earth quake as well as fishes provided by the famous TV-talent “Sakana kun”, who supports the reconstruction of the Moguranpia aquarium that was destroyed during the earth quake.The entrance is free.
